We have filled many issues of this newsletter promoting the beauty of Door County during the holiday season, but we have typically taken most of the summer off from that subject. This year is different though, mostly due to the smashing success of the inaugural Door County Christkindlmarkt last year. We’re enjoying a beautiful summer and looking forward to an even bigger and better Door County holiday season.
The (real) holiday season arrives at the perfect time in terms of Door County weather – facing down a cold winter, we all take advantage of the warm, fuzzy feelings of the holidays to help us hunker down and avoid the winter blahs. By bringing a little bit of the holidays into our incredible Door County summer, we may have the perfect recipe for cheer. So relax at the beach with your beverage of choice, and join us on our mid-year celebration of the holiday season.
Why Christmas in July?
Where did this strange tradition even come from? One can choose to dig deep into the real history of Christmas in July, or choose to just go with it. It may have been started by a movie in the 50s, or by retailers looking for an excuse for a summer sale, but rest assured it’s a uniquely American tradition that brings with it just a little kitsch and is all about fun. If you need some ideas about how to celebrate, Real Simple has you covered:
